Full bathroom remodels

Full bathroom remodels, studs to finishing trim

When patching no longer makes sense, we take the room back to the framing and rebuild it in the right order — with one team responsible from demolition to the final caulk line.

Walk-in shower clad in large marble-look porcelain with brushed brass rain head and hand shower, body jets, a black hexagon mosaic floor, a tiled bench and a freestanding tub

Why go all the way back to the studs

Opening the walls lets us see the plumbing, venting and framing you have been living with. It is the only way to correct out-of-square walls, add blocking for grab bars or a heavy vanity, insulate an exterior wall and put a continuous waterproofing layer behind the new tile.

It also gives you a blank floor plan. Doors can swing the other way, a shower can grow, a toilet can tuck out of sight from the hallway.

What a full remodel covers

Signs a full remodel is the right call

  • Soft floor or stained ceiling below

Usually a slow leak that has been going for a while. It needs to be opened up and fixed at the source.

  • A layout that fights you

Door hitting the vanity, a toilet you see first from the hall, a shower too small to turn around in.

  • Several things failing at once

When the tub, tile, vanity and fan all need replacing, doing them together costs less than doing them one at a time.

Planning notes

Order times
Custom vanities and glass are measured after tile, so they are often the last items in. We plan around their lead time.
Heated floors
Easiest to add during a full remodel. It needs a dedicated circuit, which we plan with the electrician.
Accessibility later
Blocking for grab bars and a wider doorway cost little now and save a second renovation later.

How it works

How the work unfolds

  1. Walkthrough and measure

How you use the room, what bothers you about it, and what has to stay where it is.

  2. Layout and selections

Tile, vanity, valve, glass and lighting chosen and checked against the measurements.

  3. Demolition and rough-in

The room opened up, framing corrected, plumbing and venting set for the new layout.

  4. Waterproofing and tile

A continuous membrane over every wet surface, then tile set flat and true.

  5. Fixtures and finishing

Vanity, toilet, trim, glass, paint and accessories — then a final walkthrough.

What clients say

It was a pleasure working with Johnny! Johnny and his team did a complete renovation of my bathroom. They did a fantastic job and and I am extremely pleased with the results. Johnny is very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to explaining all of the different options available. Johnny communicated throughout the renovation. I would highly recommend Shabo Construction! I am looking forward to working with Johnny again in the future.

I had my kitchen, powder room, and upstairs bathroom done. The work is absolutely beautiful! The team communicated with me throughout the entire process and provided regular updates about everything. I had trouble picking colours that would look nice in the space, and Johnny helped me pick some that would match the style I wanted. The rooms that they worked on were in rough shape, but now look nice and modern. The entire crew was very nice to work with, and I will definitely use their services again in the future!

We had an incredible time working with Johnny. He was so responsive and communicative throughout the whole process. Absolutely the most polite, friendly accommodating guy to work with. And, his workmanship and attention to detail was top notch. Excellent work, no corners cut. My bathroom is incredible, and everything I could have hoped for. 10 out of 10, will use again!!

Questions

Full Bathroom Remodels: common questions

Still have a question? Ask us directly

What is included in your estimate for a full remodel?

Labour, the materials we supply, disposal and clean-up, with any allowances for items you are still choosing clearly listed. If anything is excluded — such as hidden damage we cannot see until the walls are open — the estimate says so.

What happens if you find damage behind the walls?

We stop, show you photos, explain the options and agree the extra cost with you before continuing.

Can you remodel a bathroom in a condo?

Often, yes, but condo boards usually have rules about working hours, elevator bookings and plumbing changes. Share your building rules and we will plan around them.
